Hawaii physicians,
we work for you!

You might not even be aware of some of our HMA work and the impact we’ve had.

Our HMA leaders have been serving medicine and our Hawaii ohana for decades, and it is truly a labor of love. Our rewards are realized whenever our doctors can focus on their clinical work and take care of their patients without so many of the impediments and obstacles that hamper our calling.

Our community advocacy, research analysis and connections have helped stave off burdensome regulatory requirements, improve the healthcare landscape for Hawaii physicians and get bills passed that will benefit doctors and the patients they treat.

Physicians don’t have time to act as a government watchdog, read pages of regulatory reports, devise ways to improve EHRs and give their patients the best care possible. We want you to focus on doing what you do best – providing care to your patients. Let us help!

The HMA Legislative Committee begins preparation for the upcoming Hawaii Legislative Session every Fall, with regular meetings until Adjournment mid May. Each year we track the progress of nearly 200 health related bills making their way through the House and the Senate. HMA submits live and written testimony at House and Senate hearings. Our physician advocates meet with your Hawaii legislators about bills relevant to you and your practice!
