Medical Volunteers Needed to Assist with COVID-19 Vaccinations in the Community- OAHU

The Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration has successfully launched and is operating a community based Covid-19 vaccine POD (point of dispensing) in Oahu. The POD is located at the Windward Community Mental Health Center in Kaneohe and is administering vaccines to populations that align with the phased roll out of the state’s vaccine plan. So far, health care workers, first responders, public safety personnel, and our kapuna have received vaccines. The POD is staffed by a combination of DOH employees, non-profit partners, and volunteers. The POD is scheduled weekly and will continue for the foreseeable future.

The DOH is seeking volunteers from the medical professions to join in and assist with staffing the PODs including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, paramedics, and EMTs. There are opportunities to participate in medical screening, administering vaccinations, and medical observation (post vaccination). Physicians with emergency medicine experience are preferred to participate in medical observation however physicians from all specialties are welcome to volunteer.

Please click here which will take you to a volunteer sign up form with available dates. The DOH encourages volunteers to sign up for full days to maximize efficiency on the day of the clinic.

Thank you for all that you do and for considering joining in with other volunteers to deliver this critical public health service.

We are stronger together.
